While there seems to be a good amount of cultural activities and diversity in this area, and it is done with the intention that it makes people feel diverse, when they are actually only being politically correct. This is a very upper-class, conservative area, and living here as an 'other' is basically ignored. No one will say or do anything against someone, they just don't know how to acknowledge it, so it is invisible to them. It's the first step of a LONG

A very nice town. If you have lots of money to spend on housing and really want to be in Summit then it is worth it. The water and air quality are terrible. And as a 26 year old I feel completely out of place. There isn't a good night life for twenty-somethings or many twenty-somethings at

Worth it if you can afford it.

Summit, NJ is a very expensive place to live. But the town does a great job of making it worth every penny. Community activities, train station, quite neighborhoods, plenty of shopping. Wish I could afford to buy a home

NYC minimized

Summit is a charming town, with a lively downtown life during the day, a movie theater and lots of good places to eat at night. It has some small parks, but is mostly known for it's unique older large houses and affluent community. If you live on the border of town and residence, expect noise in the mornings from landscapers. However, nights are very quiet.
It is convenient to all areas of NJ, and within a 30-45 minute driving distance to NYC, and within 1-3 hours to all points on the

I'm a 28 year old single male and I feel like an anomaly in Summit. Summit really is a great city. There is a beautiful downtown area (which actually drew me to this location when I was looking at suburban towns within 30 miles from NYC). The city is virtually crime-free, from what I've experienced. It is very well kept, the people are pleasant... it's like pleasantville! But like I said, I'm an anomaly here. Summit is very much a family town, a great place to raise your kids if you can afford to buy here. It's not so much for the young and single. However, Morristown is nearby, which is nice to keep in mind if you are young and single and end up rooting down in Summit. Transportation to the New York is almost par to none for towns outside of the crowded and sacrificial areas of urban development. When I decided to move to a town/city that was near New York but not New York, I looked everywhere, from Long Island to Connecticut. From Staten Island to the Hudson Valley. Little did I
